Seven ways Mary consoles US

May 25, 2025

In last week's blog post I shared seven ways that Mary consoles others in each scene of her seven sorrows.

But there's more! Through her sorrows, she can console US!  Let me show you what I mean:

1. Through her sorrow at the Prophecy of Simeon, Mary is a consolation to us when we receive life-altering bad news; a bad prognosis, a change of jobs, loss of income, and as we face uncertainty.
Thank you, Mary, for being a consolation to me in difficult times!

2. Through her sorrow in the Flight into Egypt, Mary is a consolation to us when changes in our lives force us to go out of our comfort zone; lost relationships, job changes, having to move, or other changes.
Thank you, Mary, for being a consolation to me in difficult times!

3. Through her sorrow at losing Jesus in Jerusalem, Mary is a consolation to us when we feel like we have lost God in our lives.
Thank you, Mary, for being a consolation to me in difficult times!

4. Through her sorrow at watching Jesus carry His cross, Mary is a consolation to us when we have to watch our loved ones suffer.
Thank you, Mary, for being a consolation to me in difficult times!

5. Through her sorrow while standing at the foot of the cross, Mary is a consolation to us even when those we love desert us, when we feel disillusioned, or when we feel powerless.
Thank you, Mary, for being a consolation to me in difficult times!

6. Through her sorrow in receiving the dead Body of Christ in full view of the murderers of her son, Mary is a consolation to us when we face insult, injury, betrayal or a breach of trust.
Thank you, Mary, for being a consolation to me in difficult times!

7. Mary is a consolation to us when we are tempted to feel hopeless.
Thank you, Mary, for being a consolation to me in difficult times!
